Financial know-how makes study possible

Financial knowledge and saving have made it possible for Zinhle Ntsele (29) to pursue her dream to become a teacher.

Ntsele (29) lives with her husband, child and other family members in Mdwebu near Estcourt. Since joining a savings group in her area in 2015, she has grown in confidence and learned a lot from the financial education provided by SaveAct.

Late last year she took the first step towards becoming a teacher by registering to study for a Bachelor of Education through Unisa, and she is currently doing a one-year bridging Adult Basic Education and Training (ABET) course.

Her B.Ed will take four years and 40 modules to complete, with each year’s 10 module-course costing R7000.

Ntsele says she is confident that she will be able to pay for the degree because she now knows how to budget and save. In addition, because she knows what she wants in life, “nothing is impossible”.

Last year she saved 60 shares worth R100 each and with interest, her share-out from her SG was R9120. This year, by using her child grant and with help from her husband, she is saving more after joining a second group.

“I would like to thank SaveAct and the team for being patient and helping me to improve. I am eternally grateful for everything Saveact taught me,” says Ntsele.
